Afrikaans is one of 11 official languages in our country, and it ranks third as the most spoken language. Learning the language is socially empowering. It also lays the foundation on which an appreciation of the Afrikaans culture can be built, opening the door to a world of colourful and richly-South African literature.
We also treat Afrikaans as a life skill, to increase learners' exposure to it. Our emphasis here is on the practical use of the language and on making the children comfortable as they interact with each other in Afrikaans. The activities bring the subject to life and are very popular. They include reading, singing, and role playing.
"Don’t just teach your children to read, teach them to question what they read. Teach them to question everything."
- George Carlin
